WWF Sweater Day Campaign

Now here is a worthy cause! Love it when you can have a fun creative shoot with a fantastic team and save the the planet all in one day! Well... maybe not save the planet, but at least be a step in the right direction.
WWF has its annual Sweater Day on Feb 9th to encourage homes and businesses to conserve resources by reducing the temperature of your energy consuming heating system, simply by slipping on a sweater.. no fancy physics there.  It's simple and effective, bringing energy conservation front of mind.

John St. was the creative agency on the project, creating some fun and direct messages for the Sweater Day event. It was definitely an honor to work with such a creative, award-winning team. Kyle Lamb was the creative on set for the duration of the shoot along with Dana Drummond producing the shoot.
One aspect of this shoot was sourcing the correct hand model. A set of hands that fit the bill of a grandma, knitting away a cozy sweater. B&M model management here in Toronto helped us out with this. Introducing us to Sandy Bohl, a model I have worked with in the past and a true pro in the industry.
Next challenge was that I know zip-zero-nothing about knitting.... seriously. All I know is that you need a sheep and a couple of pointy needles, and somehow a sweater is created.  So I placed a call to Jasmine Cirjanic to get her on board to help out with this project. As an avid knitter, designer, art director, stylist and all around style queen she was, of course, my first choice. I always love working with her and I find we work well together as a team. The folks at the Purple Purl helped with getting the yarn and knitting a swatch.
After some graphics were added in post-production, we have the final product going up nationwide for the Sweater Day campaign. It will be displayed in most Loblaws centers, as they were also a big sponsor for the project. So a big shout out to them for that.
Check out the WWF page, bust out your favorite sweater for Feb 9th, and turn down your heat!

Country Tranquility

The Bannock Burn Bed and Breakfast

Last week I did some promotional pictures for Bannock Burn B&B . Its located close to the Godrich / Bayfield  region of Ontario . Its run by Sabine Muehlethaler , a lovely and accommodating host .  She also makes a mean breakfast !    The B&B is quiet , relaxing and secluded on a rural road in the middle of farm country . Couldn't get anymore relaxing .  The stone house was built in 1878 . An impressive piece of architecture , with hand cut stone from a local river  .  The rooms are grand , but with a clean modern touch , making me feel right at home .
Im looking forward to paying a visit again at some point .

Once upon a time , long time ago , in Montreal Quebec Canada I had a zine that me and a friend would self publish . It was called " have you seen this dog " and as a logo we used a half tone picture of a dung beetle . The zine was mainly used to promote a band I had at the time , plus a way to expose some talented writers , poets and artists . Anyway , that logo stayed with me at the start of my photographic career . Recently I decided to resurrect that image for a still life shot .

Vancouver Island

A little bit of paradise on Vancouver Island . I try and get out to the Island at least once a year to escape the big smoke ( Toronto ) . A easy going pace , fresh mountain and sea air , no traffic , no line ups !
Normally end up shooting some stock for Corbis or Getty during my stay , but this time something a little different . A continuation of a job that I was working on for Astra Zeneca with John St. agency in Toronto .    A bit last minute , but thanks to Kelli Etheridge I was able to rent her fabulous studio just outside of Nanaimo BC . She was very accommodation and easy going . If you do need a studio rental on Vancouver Island drop her a line . Reasonable rates , nice equipment  and set in a beautiful wooded setting .
Thanks Kelli !!

Hudson Bay Company

Ive been shooting for HBC now for well over 10 years . Never posted anything or do I have much ( or any ) in my portfolio from all of those fast passed productions . Love shooting this stuff !! Always work with a great team and ends up being very rewarding work .  Kinda a shame , when it ends up at the bottom of a budgie cage ...
Any way here is a couple shots from the latest flyer .
